Caregiver Checklist
Helping You Prepare for Hauling or Cleanout Day
☐ Discuss the Plan with Your Loved One
Explain what will be removed, where it will go (disposal, donation, etc.), and reassure them that they are in control of the process.
☐ Identify Items to Keep, Donate, or Remove
Walk through the home with your loved one and clearly mark items they wish to keep, donate, or have hauled away. Consider color-coded tags, tape, or written lists. We often recommend simple sticky pads of various colors.
☐ Check for Important Documents or Valuables
Before the hauling day, double-check drawers, books, old boxes, and furniture for personal papers, jewelry, or keepsakes that may have been tucked away.
☐ Prepare Access to the Property
Ensure pathways are clear and that Hymie’s Hauling has access to driveways, doors, garages, basements, or any area where items are located.
☐ Communicate Any Special Instructions
Let us know if there are sentimental items, fragile pieces, or other concerns. We take extra care when handling sensitive or delicate items.
☐ Confirm Payment Arrangements
Decide who will be handling payment (yourself, your loved one, or another family member). We accept cash, e-transfer, or credit card at the time of service.
☐ Schedule Enough Time
Leave enough time on hauling day for your loved one to ask questions, reminisce, or make last-minute decisions. We are patient and happy to work at their pace.
☐ Coordinate with Family if Needed
If other family members should be present or give input, arrange that beforehand to avoid confusion on hauling day.
☐ Stay Calm and Supportive
Downsizing, clearing out, or decluttering can be emotional. Patience and understanding go a long way. We’ll do our part to make the day easier.
☐ Let Hymie’s Hauling Handle the Heavy Lifting
Once you’re ready, let us do the work. Our team will load, haul, and clean up, so you and your loved one don’t have to lift a thing.
